HOW DO I CARE FOR THE WOOD IN MY PRODUCTS?
All wood comes to you untreated. We prefer to leave it this way and allow our products to build character over time. To clean, rub with a slightly damp cloth. If you prefer to coat or seal the wood, we recommend applying as thin a layer as possible of natural wood polish or finishing wax. Please note that we can not guarantee the fit, function or performance of products once the items have been altered. Just as you wouldn't place a cup of water on your coffee table without a coaster, we recommend being careful not to expose the wood to moisture (unless, of course, you like that look for aging your product.)

 

HOW DO I CARE FOR THE PLASTIC PRINTS IN MY PRODUCTS?
Just as you would care for, well, most other plastic items in your home. To clean, rub with a moist towel. If necessary, mild cleaners may be rubbed over the surface with a soft towel.  

 

WHAT ARE THE PARTS MADE OF?
Many of our component parts are made of 3D printed ABS plastic. ABS plastic has a strong resistance to corrosive chemicals and/or physical impacts and is one of the safest for use in FDM production. Many things in our daily lives from power-tools, to the keyboard you may be typing on, to LEGO toys, use ABS plastics. 

As far as the process, we specifically use a technique called FDM, or Fuse Deposition Modeling. The easiest way to think about the process is as a mechanically controlled hot glue gun with incredibly high accuracy, depositing a series of very thin layers that fuse to create a single part. This process is the reason that our items have such a unique texture. A texture that, frankly, we think is beautiful. 

 

ARE 3D PRINTED PARTS STRONG ENOUGH FOR CONSUMER PRODUCTS?
We think so! Our products were originally designed and built for our own homes, and over a year later, they continue to see daily use. All products are designed to be part of your daily life and engineered to perform. We believe that this is just the beginning of what is possible to produce with FDM 3D Printing. In fact, we are so confident that we believe the name of the printing technology, FDM or Fuse Deposition Modeling, is in fact a misnomer, as the parts produced create fully functional products for daily use (not just models).

 

WILL MY ITEM COME WITH MOUNTING HARDWARE?
For applicable items, basic mounting hardware is included. Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home. Maximum load 5-10 lbs depending on type of wall and fastening. Basic mounting hardware includes #8 x 1.25” Philips Drywall Screws. Elkwood is not responsible for any damage done as the result of improper mounting.

 

CAN I GET MY ITEMS IN DIFFERENT COLORS?
We believe that just because you can, does not mean that you should. All of our products are designed with a modern, clean look to seamlessly fit into any home, and we believe that is best done in the colors offered.

 

WHERE DO WE SHIP?
We ship to anywhere in the US only, for now, but we are unable to ship to P.O. Boxes. For international orders, please contact us directly for more information.

 

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?
Our products are hand assembled to order here in Brooklyn, NY. Due to the nature of our work, we do require a 10-14 day production time, with some products taking longer on occasion (up to 3-4 weeks, but you will be notified if this is the case). Most items are in stock if they are listed as available on our website, so most orders ship within a few days. If you item has a longer production time, the listing will say so, or we will notify you as soon as possible of any delays. You will receive a shipping confirmation via email once your order has shipped, along with a tracking number.

 

CAN I EXPEDITE MY ORDER?
If you need your order next day, please email us prior to placing your order.

 

CAN I REQUEST A CUSTOM ORDER?
We do take custom orders from time to time. However, availability is sporadic. If you would like to customize your purchase with personalization, or custom design entire products, please contact us at info@Elkwood.co.

 

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ORDER HAS SHIPPED?
When we ship your order, we will send you a confirmation email with a tracking number. Please note that changes of address will not show up in the confirmation (but if we say we have processed them, we have, don’t worry), and tracking numbers will take up to 24 hours to update.

 

WHAT DO I DO IF I NEED TO CHANGE MY ORDER OR SHIPPING INFORMATION?
If you need to change your order or your shipping information, please email us immediately at info@Elkwood.co so we can update your order. We may or may not be able to make the change, depending on how quickly you get in touch with us, but we will do our best. 

Please note, our system does not display updated shipping information in shipping/confirmation emails.  If you have gotten in touch with us and we have confirmed that the change has gone through, don’t worry, the address we have is correct even if the email is wrong.

 

MY TRACKING NUMBER TELLS ME MY PACKAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED – WHAT’S GOING ON?
The USPS reuses tracking numbers.  Within the first 24 hours or so after you receive your shipping confirmation, you may see that your item has already been delivered.  Don’t worry, this is just outdated information from the last time that number was used. Your correct information should display after 24 hours.  Feel free to contact us at info@Elkwood.co if the issue doesn’t resolve after 36 hours or more.

 

HOW DO I SEND MY ITEM IN FOR A RETURN OR EXCHANGE?
Elkwood will gladly accept returns for exchange within 14 days of delivery for store credit only, minus the cost of shipping. Please contact us about a Return or Exchange within 14 days of receipt of your purchase. Returned items must be in unused and in new condition. The customer assumes both the return shipping cost to Elkwood and the replacement item shipping cost, unless the item is found to be defective, in which case we will gladly send you a pre-paid shipping label.

 

WHY WAS MY ORDER CANCELLED?
This is very unlikely to happen to you, but we do occasionally cancel orders due to shortage of materials or suspicion of fraud. If we do cancel your order, we will contact you immediately with an explanation.
